Italian melodic hardcore band What We Lost are back with a fresh single, “Chamomile”. We last heard from the band when they released “Beds” and fell for the tenderness and intensity created by the five piece of Simone Galeotti (vocals), Riccardo Ibatici (guitar), Lorenzo Di Girolamo (guitar), Enrico Tosti (bass), and Andrea Barbieri (drums).
“Chamomile” continues that, with beautiful and rich riffs setting a scene of sparseness. We’re taken into an introspective reflection of a relationship gone wrong.
“I prayed god for your return, I was left alone”
If the bleeding guitars that find their wings in the chorus don’t rip your heart out, the raw vocal and lyrical pain of a lover left behind will. Beautifully crafted, “Chamomile” builds progressively, feeling like it leads to an agonising decision between giving up and moving on, with the pain of potentially letting go overwhelming the track (“I just wanted to make you happy”).
