Californian post-hardcore band Thousand Below have just released a music video for “The Love You Let Too Close”. The track is the title track from their album released last October via Rise Records.
“The Love You Let Too Close” tells a weighty and personal story, backed by heavy and driving instrumentation, and very real lyrics. The track is a sharing of the loss of a sibling, by suicide, and the subsequent questions that slam around inside a person in response to this.
“You couldn’t bury the pain”
Irregular rhythms and hard hits reflect the cold facts, the irreversible scene. Breathed out in heaviness is the admission of what life is like now: They just go through the motions and are hit with regret at what they didn’t/couldn’t see before the permanent ending happened.
Sharp pain weaves its way through spoken word, raw screams, and clean vocals. Angular riffs and a sense of stuttering seems to share the difficulty that remains in moving through life in the wake of this loss. Taking it all day by day.
Watch the fittingly dark and hard hitting music video below. We’ve also added this track to our Spotify playlist: The Depth List: 2018.
