We have a ‘thing’ for music that’s authentic, honest, sounds great and feels like a “YES”. Here’s new music that ticks our boxes, from a self-described ‘acoustic/emo’ singer/songwriter from the Poconos, Pennsylvania: Statues and Stories.
Statues and Stories is the creative solo project of Malachi McNeill, who has been creating music since 2014. His debut album God Complex is soon to be released on 28th April, but the single “Whole” has been released along with a lyric video. “Whole” caught our eye. Also ears. And feels.
If you let yourself sink into “Whole”, it’s not long before you get hit with the weight of emotion. It’s sheer rawness; streaming thoughts and self-beration expressing a loss of faith, heartache and uncertainty about what’s coming. Malachi does a beautiful job of expressing the angst of the unknown and frustration of what has been lost.
