UNFD have announced that Melbourne rock band Slowly Slowly signed to their label this week, as well as sharing the good news of a new album and fresh single. “Alchemy” is from the upcoming St. Leonards album which will release on 11th May.
“Alchemy” follows on from single “Aliens”, as the second single of St. Leonards. Slowly Slowly’s frontman Ben Stewart shares that the album (which is the second from the four piece) is a snapshot of his life and those closest to him. The album was captured DIY-style by the band in Melbourne, along with some drum recording assistance from Joel Taylor at The Black Lodge Studio. The album was entirely co-produced, recorded and mixed by Alex Quayle (bass) and Ben Stewart.
“Fall asleep while driving home. We’re making gold.”
With an intriguingly condensed yet vibrant sound, “Alchemy” tingles with wistful creation of a brilliant future. With gentle honesty, “Alchemy” seems to explore the idea of making something great, with all of the ‘little things’ melding together into the creation of something beautiful.
Fantastical and huge choruses of “Alchemy” that burst out from humble verses reflect a future life starring ‘us’, and all the scenes of connection and tenderness that go into that. The fresh track is driving and determined, and soars high with lump-in-the-throat hopefulness for a beautiful future together.
To celebrate the album, Slowly Slowly have announced tour dates for May and June. For more information, head to slowlyslowly.oztix.com.au.
