Resolve – Abyss (Track Of The Day, 3rd Jun)

Our Track Of The Day today goes hard at it. Resolve are a four piece from Lyon, France. They’ve dropped “Abyss” on the 1st of May, which is the second release from the band.

Resolve are Anthony (vocals), Nathan (drums), Robin (bass), and Aurélien (guitar). Their sound is intriguing; heavy and hectic but also inspiring curiosity with the depth of their message.

“Resolve” thunders from the outset and doesn’t hold back, feeling like we’re being dragged down a rabbit hole we’ve not noticed was even there. It’s a wake-up call, shaking us out of lives that we just keep marching through, unhappily. Lives we’ve adopted that don’t fit who we are.

“Just an ant in the anthill
Retained by memories
Unable to behave like the others
You put yourself on the shelf
Now your pen confesses
You’re scared to close the only book you’ve ever opened”

It’s a powerful sentiment to rouse ourselves out of a state of self-victimisation (an ‘abyss’ of nothingness, even), recognising our individual freedom in creating our own stories.

Love this, as well as their previous release, “Exposed”. These guys are definitely a band to watch. Check out “Abyss” with its music video. Go give Resolve some love on Facebook or Spotify.
