Foo Fighters – Run (Track Of The Day, 2nd June)

One watch of the new Foo Fighters‘ music video and there was no question; this masterpiece of a song had to be Track Of The Day.

Foo Fighters released “Run” yesterday, along with its unique video, directed by Dave Grohl. It’s been awhile between new music for the band, the last we heard from them being Saint Cecilia EP in 2015.

“Run” is a quality track; heavy, awesome and inspiring a revolution. It’s an epic adventure, starting lightly and dreamily at first, before the drums take us into rock riff city and it’s ON. Vocals are set alight and growled, along with a gritty sound.

“I need some room to breathe
You can run with me
If you wanted to”

The verses are more seeking and connective, with Grohl’s vocals being melodic and gentle. The song length (nearly five and a half minutes) gives room for an epic ending as well as “Run” being an impressive AF rock track.

“Run” speaks as a wake-up call in a time where everything seems to be falling apart. It’s an invitation to join together and run, together creating the freedom that is missing.

But most importantly.. the video. Words can’t express the majesty. I watched it with a blend of amusement, horror and fascination.

Enjoy!
