The boys of Quiet, Please. have dropped another single in the lead-up to their album The Ghost Inside My Head (releasing 29th September). “Cate” is dedicated to a close friend and supporter of the band by the same name.
To date, Quiet, Please. have melded modern alternative rock with vibes from another era, and “Cate” continues that. A radio broadcast sample, clicky melody, and Brice’s other-dimensionally sliding vocals set the scene from 30 seconds in: “Cate” is effortlessly cool.
“You’ve a gun to my head
And you want me dead
But you make me feel so alive”
“Cate” feels like a study in contradictions and trying to make sense of it all. And that trying to figure out this puzzle is half of the fun.
Warm bass and drum taps echo that feeling of playful curiosity. The track expands into a rockin’ synthy instrumental with sweet ‘doo doo doo’ vocals, making room for an epic finish.
Rock out to “Cate” and then wait by your devices for that album to drop next month.
