Mike Normal – The Tower (New Music)

Please check out my first EP. I’d love to know what Depth thinks.

Depth is in love, that’s what Depth thinks, Mike Normal. Depth thinks your spacey grungey sound is amazeballs.

California based Mike Normal has released a four-track EP Tomorrow. To be honest, beyond that we don’t know a heck of a lot about Mike Normal, but we like what we hear.

We dove into the EP’s lead track “The Tower”, as a taster, and fell for it’s sense of maintaining a matter-of-factness along with a sense of gradually falling more out of line and stretching of boundaries. “The Tower” is dirty bass, driving beats, and dusty vocals seeking a revolution. Unpredictable accents and effects that seem to take over the track more and more are fitting messiness painted over expected normalcy.

“Our lives are so fucking dumb, you’ve held us down
We’re gonna burn your kingdom right to the ground”

Also on Tomorrow are curious explorations of love in the vulnerable “The Way”, tender encouragement in “Tomorrow” (stand-out lyric “and I’ll hold onto your hair as you puke out your despair”), and willful surrender in the reality-bending “Supernatural Love”.

Check out Tomorrow via Bandcamp below, and tell Mike Normal you love it via Instagram.
