Today’s Track Of The Day is a fresh slice of dream pop.
“Lost It All” is the short and sweet lead track from Tampa based Babyblu‘s album Petals (released 23rd June). The track was written and produced by Dylan McBrayer and Jack McCoy.
“Lost It All” is only 1:05 long, but there’s something about it that has me drift into it.
Distorted vocals open the track, echoing Dylan’s voice. Background noise is heard at the same time the lyric “and so I scream.. at the top of my lungs“ is sung gently. There’s something about that seemingly oblivious crowd along with that lyric that feels significant.
But we’re shifted into zorbing waves of bass instead, which lead into the song coming to a close with interspersed vocal samples. The simplicity and open spaces of “Lost It All” have it feel smooth, and chilled.
It’s a very sedate way to start Petals. Check it out, as well as the rest of the album if you love a bit of dream pop.
