’68 – Whether Terrified or Unafraid (Track Of The Day, 7th July)

I spent my morning listening to ’68 and their Two Parts Viper album. I was at my computer swinging somewhere between the heart eyes emoji and the mouth open emoji. These guys are amazing!

It’s hard to believe that ’68 are just two guys; Josh Scogin and Michael McClellan. Their sound is as huge as a full band would be. Huger. More huge. Whatever.

“Whether Terrified or Unafraid” is so wild and chaotic and I fell in love with its messiness. Its noise with those riffs and bellowed and distorted vocals. I also fell in love with this lyric:

“I could have been anyone from anywhere
But I chose to be me
From right here”

The whole track feels like a fight through something extreme, wrestling and enduring and breaking into openness after ‘I feel like everybody else is gone’.

I can’t wait to soak up more of ’68. I’ve found out that they’re on tour here in Australia next month and it’d be amazing to catch this energy in a live setting! More details on their shows here: https://www.facebook.com/theyare68/app/123966167614127/
