After Change – Heart & Home (Track Of The Day, 7th September)

Alternative rock band After Change are an Adelaide based four piece of Dan, Goose, Jed and Declan. The guys released “Too Close To Home” last month in the lead-up to the September 26th release of their debut EP; Feelin’ Fine. We’re sharing their 2016 release “Heart & Home” as our Track Of The Day today.

“Heart & Home” celebrates the sense of home that someone finds in the company of their lover, regardless of the place. The person has been left feeling lost and chaotic and are craving the settledness that they find in this person they love.

“The whole world feels like home, when you’re here with me.
But people can cast their stones, but we’re never faulting.”

To me the fast pace and searching vocals sound more like the person is reaching out and hoping for finding this groundedness of home again, as opposed to celebrating what they already firmly have.

The shift at the bridge (“Her heart is home again”) feels like a home-coming after a tense situation, and the soft instrumental ending feels like relaxing into this love.
