2017 has been a huge year for music, with so many stellar releases. That doesn’t stop us being excited about even more incredible music that’s just around the corner. Here’s a few we’re already excited to wrap our ears around.. even with sketchy details so far.
(Or no details at all, just a sonic dream in our hearts…)
DBMK – TBC
Will 2018 be the year for a follow up to DBMK‘s 2016 masterpiece Collapse? I have a hankering for more bass-rich alternative rock electronic artistry from the Floridian four piece, and so might their rapidly expanding fanbase.
I’ll just be watching from the bushes over here: https://www.facebook.com/dbmkmusic/
Endless Heights – Vicious Pleasure
Just look at this tracklisting for Sydney’s Endless Heights‘ album Vicious Pleasure.
- Taste It
- You Coward
- Toxic
- Drain
- Come A Little Closer
- Pray I Fade
- Goldleaf
- Shiver Down
- Paralyse
- Run
- Heart Of Your Lie
We’re already clued in on the melodic and ethereal goodness of “You Coward”, “Drain”, “Come A Little Closer” and “Pray I Fade”. When you’re already in love with a good part of the album before it’s released, you can expect it to be something special.
Vicious Pleasure is out February 16th via Cooking Vinyl. Pre-order at https://24hundred.net/collections/vicious-pleasure
The Plot In You – Dispose
February 16th might as well be considered ‘Musical Christmas 2018’ because The Plot In You will also be releasing their new album on that date. Dispose will include the play-them-on-repeat-until-you-die-because-they’re-that-good singles “Not Just Breathing” and “Feel Nothing”, as well as eight other new tracks.

Holding Absence – TBC
Okay so Holding Absence could release 10 tracks where vocalist Lucas Woodland belts out the alphabet along with those signature HA dramatic rock feelscapes (with a black and white music video) and it would be incredible. Everything that the Welsh band have released this year has been impeccable, so we are a teensy bit keen for a full release (and are hoping there’s an option for vinyl too). We do know an album is in the works for 2018 but have no details 100% confirmed just yet. Watch this space.

Deadlights – TBC
It’s not really a secret we’re massive fans of Brisbane’s Deadlights. Word on the street is that a new album with more of a melodic/clean focus is close to completion and set for release in 2018. This is perfect timing because my copy of Mesma is wearing out from (over)use. My fingers are ready to hit that pre-order link whenever Deadlights are ready!

Ocean Grove – TBC
Yes the kings of creative quirkiness and sonic brilliance in Ocean Grove have new stuff on the way and we cannot wait. There’s no official details to be shared yet by way of album name etc, but *something* is coming, and it’s got us already keen for it in 2018.
Stalk the band on Facebook for the first hint of new music goss: https://www.facebook.com/oceangrovemelbourne/
Aburden – TBC
Our favourite ‘sadboys’ of Melbourne’s Aburden took some time away recently for writing new music. We’re super keen to get our ears on what spoken word/melodic anthems are coming ahead for us in 2018.
Keep an eye out: https://www.facefbook.com/aburdenaus/
Belle Haven – TBC
Belle Haven also took time away to write for a new album a few months back. Will it be something they release in 2018? We need some of those Answer Pills. Regardless, I’m keen to see whatever the post-hardcore feels-inspired band have got up their sleeves after the success of You, Me and Everything in Between.

Ambleside – TBC
Though we’ve been happily worshipping the Shape Me EP, I think we’re ready for its successor. Adelaide’s Ambleside have made it no secret they’re working on new music, and we can’t wait to hear what the guys have been creating!
We watch and wait: https://www.facebook.com/amblesidehc/
Sleep Talk
Another band from Adelaide that we hope have something new for us to soak up in 2018. Whatever “New Tradition” is part of, we’re gonna need that. More melodic hardcore goodness from Sleep Talk would make our year that much better.

There’s been so many bands we’ve loved listening to this year, this is but a selection of musical awesomeness we can’t wait to share with you in 2018.
Who is on your ‘keen list’?
