Silverstein – The Afterglow (Track Of The Day, 18th December)

Canadian post-hardcore band Silverstein have just announced a tour of Australia and New Zealand next year, along with fellow Canadians Comeback Kid. Silverstein’s impressive 17 year run hasn’t damped their energy or presence, as their eighth full length album Dead Reflection proves. “The Afterglow” is eighth on the album and is our Track Of The Day today.

“Everything you said, echoing in my head, back and forth into the afterglow”

“The Afterglow” captures a relationship, from easy and dreamy roadtripping days through to hurtful confrontation and the end. Lyrically elegant (honestly, how did they so eloquently share an entire relationship in so few words!?) and with relentless pace, Silverstein share the unfolding deterioration of this connection. The wistful tenderness and build up at the bridge makes it clear that the memories and impact of this relationship has stuck with him, even though it’s over now.

Recorded while the band were on the Vans Warped tour, the music video for “The Afterglow” is a perfect teaser for anyone keen to hit the Australian and New Zealand show dates. Catch all the details on the tour below.
