Is it just us, or are pop punk bands mostly cheeky troublemakers who have feelings? Waterparks seem to fit that description, and their new video for the single “Royal” shares these personality traits.
In the video, set in a sparse white institution, “Royal” is played and sung by the Waterparks guys (Awsten Knight, Otto Wood, and Geoff Wigington), with shots swiftly flicking from the band to what appears to be Awsten in therapy sessions or in isolation.
Throughout the entire video is a blend of seriousness and fun due to the expressions and gestures of the guys and other people featured (eg. other patients in white gowns dancing wildly).
“‘Cause I work myself to death
Don’t believe me? Ask Geoff
And I’m doing alright
But is alright enough?
Cause I’m living my dreams
But I live at home
Cause everything is on the down low for now”
Above all else, “Royal” is catchy as anything and fun to listen to. Enjoy “Royal” and the new video below.
