Tonight Alive – Crack My Heart (New Music)

Sydney rockers Tonight Alive are back with a new single. Jenna, Jake, Cam and Matt have released “Crack My Heart” today, showcasing the band’s powerful brand of enlightened rock. In following up “Temple”, it’s another taste of what’s to come in Underworld, releasing next month via UNFD.

As well as being a stellar track, “Crack My Heart” is a vibrant experience of love as a healer. Tonight Alive take us sky high and we’re immersed in an angelic connection, encased in something beautiful.

From this sense of safety comes a desire to open up and reveal oneself more vulnerably, admitting that it “may be turbulent”, but wanting it regardless. To me “Crack My Heart” shows a desire to be more connected to the rich experience of life, wanting to be exposed to all of it, not just the ‘good bits’. And wanting that with another, and to grow alongside them.

“As I taste the ecstasy of love I promise that you’ll be safe
But it may be turbulent
It may be turbulent”

Tonight Alive’s bright yellow aesthetic persists, as shown in the music video and feels like light and warmth, as well as reflecting the ‘blooming’ that they’re seeking. Directed by Neal Walters, the video powerfully demonstrates presence, connection and a tactile experience of life, while having the signature Tonight Alive feel all over it.

Sonically, the tension at the bridge expresses the exciting dance between risk and high potential, with what opening up with another can bring. “Crack My Heart” is such a powerful goosebumpy experience, and something very cool that Tonight Alive have let us in on.
