Hardcore New Yorkers Stray From The Path have released a new track, and not everyone loves it.
The YouTube thumbs down/dislike has been smashed hard, presumably by those that take pride in their right to hate. So hate they will. On YouTube, as well as toward fellow humans.
To explain, “Goodnight Alt-right” may as well be acknowledged as being an ode to far-right white supremacist Richard Spencer and the punches he has received, in public protest. Spencer is considered a leader of the alt-right, having coined the term, and having gained attention for his support for ‘ethnic-cleansing’ and neo-Nazi stance.
With “Goodnight Alt-right”, Stray From The Path make a controversial, yet important statement: You give hate? Expect hate.
“You just got knocked the fuck out
The punishment fits the crime”
In “Goodnight Alt-right”, Stray From The Path are expressing the disbelief that the statements/stances of racism are occurring in modern day, and that people such as Richard Spencer are given a platform from which to share their closed minded views. The track takes aim lyrically, even referring specifically to the Dead Kennedys track “Nazi Punks Fuck Off” (1981), hitting it home further how unbelievable it is that we still have these outdated stances in our modern society.
The track is amazing with its high intensity fury, pummeled drums, and catchy riffs. The bridge amps the intensity even higher and the force of fight is made clear, as well as there being no ambiguity in the music video.
