Our beautiful Track Of The Day comes from Melbourne’s Storm The Sky.
“Burning” was the final song on Storm The Sky’s Sin Will Find You album, released 5th August 2016. But it was the Docklands Live version of the track which caught my eye and had me mesmerised for its duration.
It’s sung tenderly and honestly, while electronics entwine with rock. A breakout of heaviness after a peaceful introduction is satisfyingly awesome, in particular the high energy drumming. In the second verse an instability feels more prominent and tension is palpable. It’s easy to get caught up in this.
“When you breathe in, I hold my breath until you breathe out”
There’s a wildness to the track and the amping up into even further heightened instability is intense and beautiful. As is the collapse into silence and spaciousness, and eclectic sounds, including violin bow across guitar.
There’s a powerful last gasp of hectic wrestling and heaviness, before a tender close.
Completely wowed, and keen to dive more deeply into Sin Will Find You.
Enjoy “Burning”.
