Your day needs more Speech Patterns in it.
We chose “Didn’t Need a Reason” as our Track Of The Day today. The track is the first on Speech Patterns’ Without a Sound EP and takes up a roaring presence.
“Didn’t Need a Reason” speaks on behalf of someone who seems to have been carelessly abandoned or rejected by someone they cared about. Left in confusion, they’re wondering what was genuine of the connection they had, that is now left broken. They’re also having to face the painful fact that they can’t do anything to change what has happened.
“Feels like you didn’t need a reason
To stab me in the back again
None of this makes any sense”
Speech Patterns pour frustration and hurt into this track of broken heartedness. The moments of tender thought that still remain for this person show up with Eric Suarez’s gently sung vocals. However in being shut out in selfishness, with nothing to do but try and erase the other person from their mind, anger and hurt spills out onto the chorus with delicious intensity.
This is such a powerful track, soaring of sound; flooding the space in search for answers to reveal themselves. They never seem to come.
