Sorority Noise – Week 51 (Track Of The Day, 22nd October)

Our Track Of The Day comes from Sorority Noise and their recently released 7″ Alone. The band shared that the two tracks of “Week 51” and “Fermata” were recorded at the time of their previous album (You’re Not As _____ As You Think, released in March this year), but not included.

The title of Alone offers one possibility of filling in that album title’s blank, with the two songs touching on the topic, becoming a companion of a release to the full album.

“Week 51” is heavy with grief, with its words seeming to barely make their way through the fog. A simple repeated melody combined with emotional heaviness has this track find its way in under your skin.

“It hasn’t been a week
Since you’ve fell asleep
Didn’t say goodbye
Couldn’t say goodnight

I’ve been feeling weak
Thinking about the ways
I can continue
But I’ll wait
And I’ll wait”

“Week 51” is raw and touching and unflashy, seeming to capture the way in which tough or traumatic moments happen and shock us, leaving us feeling helpless, and yet we’re supposed to carry on. Somehow. And somehow we do.

Listen to this beautiful track, as well as its partner “Fermata” on Alone via Spotify below. Sorority Noise are currently on tour with Citizen and Great Grandpa, see dates and locations HERE.
