Have you given your ears a dose of Noija yet? It seems like these Swedes can do no wrong.
Noija are Nick Serlstedt (vocals), Daniel Lundgren (drums), Max Mauritsson (bass) and Ludvig Ottosson (guitar). The alternative rock four piece have already wowed us with “Unknown”, and have today followed it up with “A Touch From The Sun”.
“A Touch From The Sun” is a soundscape built from fantastical vocal samples, stadium-ready rock and wandering riffs. Visually and lyrically we fall into the blurred lines between a fantasy world and reality, courtesy of the band being layered with nature/elemental imagery as well as showing a woman exploring her world.
“I’m not afraid to fade from the rain
I’m no longer a slave to the pain
I’m here to remain but I won’t stay the same”
The feeling is one of celebrating the gift of dreams, while firmly stepping forward into reality with optimism. As in, “I am alive and I am feeling all of this life going on around me.”
It’s a beautiful farewell to keeping a safe distance from reality, and a powerful and unconditional immersion into whatever it is that comes next. Raw and powerful vocals add to the gravity of this shift into realness, along with touching melodics.
