Today’s Track Of The Day kicks off with a beat that has you wanting more. And then the ‘more’ comes. It’s “Better Off Without You” by Mallory Knox.
Mallory Knox are Mikey Chapman (vocals), Joe Savins (lead guitar, backing vocals), Sam Douglas (bass guitar, vocals), James Gillett (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), and Dave Rawling (drums). The five-piece hail from Cambridge, UK, and were formed in 2009.
Mallory Knox have their third album in the works (Wired), and “Better Off Without You” is a track from the album, as well as a single in its own right. We’re loving the desperation and frustration behind the vocals as well as a very cool rock sound.
“I’d like, to say, I’m better off without you
But I can’t, no way, you won’t believe me
At nights, I drift, like a bottle in the ocean
My Citalopram will pull me though”
Bassist Sam Douglas described that he wrote “Better Off Without You” after seeing a doctor for anxiety and after a ‘2 minute’ appointment was described Citalopram. He shared that in feeling palmed off during a doctor’s visit which took bravery to attend in the first place “felt no better off for trying to do something about it”.
Check out “Better Off Without You” video, in which a patient is virtually tortured and experimented upon.
