Ignore The Elephant – Someone Like You (Track Of The Day, 5th July)

Ignore The Elephant are two Martins (Hellohf and Bäckius), two Simons (Frisk and Möller) and an Andreas (Oxelgren). The five piece hail from Gothenburg, Sweden, and have caught our eye.

“Someone Like You” is the third track on the band’s EP Hymns For The Weary (released May 19th), and is our Track Of The Day.

The track’s piano and warm vocals have a way of creating instant intimacy with their vulnerability, pulling focus on the story that is being shared. Someone is having a hard time and reaching out.

“Tell me it’s alright
I’m not as strong as you”

It becomes apparent the person is undergoing a growth experience and having a hard time of it. They’re seeking stability and support, and they are humbly asking for a hand. What tugs at the heartstrings is the sense of how the person seeking help is not entirely comfortable with doing it. Relatable.

Beautiful track, and the choruses are a stand-out. Check out “Someone Like You” with its music video or stream via Spotify.
