Our Tracks Of The Day so far this week have had an eclectic and dance flavour to them, and today’s Track Of The Day is no different.
On their album Treehouse, I See Stars placed a unique track at track 7, seeming more like a curious interlude than a song in its own right. “Walking On Gravestones” is purely electronic, with no sign of the -core that’s firmly present on the rest of Treehouse‘s tracks.
“Walking On Gravestones” features heavily edited and sampled vocals set to a pulsing drum beat and a dance melody. Aside from the grounded heaviness of the drums, the entire track feels airy and light, sounding like messages sent on a breeze to someone we’re otherwise out of reach from. The whispered vocals add to this feeling, as do the lyrics:
“When the wind blows
Just know”
As the track progresses and drums are more strongly in focus, it feels more serious, and like needing to make a decision, together with the “Choose me” lyric. We find “Walking On Gravestones” to be trancey and something to lose ourselves in, and love its unexpected uniqueness on the album.
