Californian alternative rockers Faze Wave are back with new tunes! Last year we soaked up the angsty “Chemistry”, and the four piece have swiftly followed it up with “Leagues”, and the latest, “Suburban Boy”. After line-up shuffles, Faze Wave are currently the four piece of Matthew Flynn (vocals and guitar), Jacob Nemeth (guitar), Hunter Hielman (bass), and Zachary Stickler (drums).
“Is it my youth, or you miss your home back in Illinois?”
“Suburban Boy” has the signature chilled and melodic sound we’re used to from Faze Wave. Inquiring and honest, the track is a search for understanding in the relationship with another who seems far more mature and worldly. This warm expression of curiosity and confusion of why she likes him, and why he’s now feeling shut out plays out with crashing drums and questioning riffs.
Endearing in lyrical simplicity and realness, “Suburban Boy” is a reminder of everything that makes Faze Wave’s brand of music necessary. With vulnerable ‘Where are we going?’ expressions and snapshots of inner collisions, “Suburban Boy” is relatably reassuring.
