Our Track Of The Day today comes from Sydney’s Far Away Stables. We last wrote about the band’s single “Caldera”. Since then, they have released a second single in “Phantasm” as well as their full album Between Rage and Serenity.
Putting an ear to “Phantasm”, the track has shades of eeriness that are fitting of its title, as well as curiousness in its verses. There’s heavier accents as the track inches into an alluring pre-chorus (“So come with me, I’ll be all you need / There’s really no escaping so just give in”).
“You’re a chemical reaction and you’re blossoming in my brain
You’re still only a fraction dividing into my veins”
The emotion drenched vocals that we loved about “Caldera” play out beautifully in “Phantasm”. They take on the role of smug manipulator that has a firm grip upon us (“I own you and I always will”), describing in great detail how powerless we are. Its delicious build-up at the bridge is awesome, launching into a powerful last chorus, and an eerie ending.
The catchiness and character of “Phantasm” gets under your skin inspiring more listens. Check out the track via its music video or stream via Spotify.
