Evanescence – Good Enough (Track Of The Day, 11th February)

Amy Lee of Evanescence has released a new solo track this week, called “Love Exists”. It’s breathy, beautiful, powerful and has a dance style as well as soul shifting beats.

This *isn’t* our Track Of The Day, but you can check it out it right here:

Our Track Of The Day *is* one from Evanescence though. It’s “Good Enough”, released in 2007, from The Open Door album.

“Good Enough” played in the introduction of a CSI TV episode inspired an instant search for the song credits to find out just what this beautiful song was.

In an interview, Amy Lee shared that “Good Enough” was “completely, completely, completely different for me because it sort of [has a] happy ending.”

She went on to say that it was “the last song that I wrote for the record, and it’s sort of the bravest, I think, for me because I had to tell the truth and the truth is, I feel, good now. The rest of the album is pretty aggressive and dark and everything else, but the last one is like, I got to the good place that I was heading for and I wrote about how good I felt. It turned out amazing, but it’s like nothing we’ve ever done. I just have to write from my heart and be genuine, because I think that’s what people loved about our music to begin with, and if that changes, then that changes.”

We think it’s amazing too. “Good Enough” has a beautiful long introduction, the unmistakable vocal power of Amy Lee, as well as a massive orchestral sound. The sound is haunting as well as vulnerable.

“Good enough,
I feel good enough.
It’s been such a long time coming, but I feel good.

And I’m still waiting for the rain to fall.
Pour real life down on me.
‘Cause I can’t hold on to anything this good enough.
Am I good enough for you to love me too?”
