Freshly formed from the ashes of multiple bands comes Colour & Shade! The Melbourne based band features Zak Knight (guitar & vocals), Tim Greenwood (vocals), Mat Purcell (guitar), Chris Heyward (bass) and Graham King (drums). Colour & Shade have kicked things off with “Composure” as their debut single.
“Composure” is a strong song with warm vocals, seeking sound and emotion. What I particularly love about “Composure” is its evolution through the track along with the ‘narrator’ sharing their own growth experience through the lyrics, and the different song sections echoing this.
“Composure” at first shares difficulty (which we could assume relates to a relationship) and feels heavy with defeat and regret.
“What have I done?
And where did this go wrong?”
The inner wrestling they describe then beautifully evolves into self-forgiveness and trying again. Breathe in. Breathe out. The importance of self-acceptance in what they’re experiencing hits home with impressively hard sound and unclean vocals.
It’s a beautiful and poignant message and a solid debut track. Check out “Composure” via its music video or stream via Spotify.
