British rockers Bring Me The Horizon are touring currently and it’s only a couple of sleeps now before we get to see them live in all their awesomeness. Excitement about this meant that we had to choose a Bring Me The Horizon song for our Track Of The Day.
The song “True Friends” from the That’s The Spirit album showcases all that’s amazing about Bring Me The Horizon: Signature vocals that range from a gentle whisper up to a full blown scream, a raunchy bassline, grounding and exciting drums, wild guitars, and a massiveness of sound created by electronic effects and layered vocals.
“True Friends” is a (typically) brutally honest Bring Me The Horizon song, very plainly and openly confronting someone who broke the narrator’s heart, and how life happens for them from that point onward (“You broke my heart and there’s nothing you can do / Don’t you know, don’t you know / True friends stab you in the front”). There are several tracks on That’s The Spirit that relate to this powerful theme, of using a difficult experience as a wake-up call and a stoking of fire within one’s bones to grow from and become even better than before.
“Well hate is gasoline
A fire fueling all my dreams
(I’m afraid you asked for this)”
Bring Me The Horizon are masters at creating a full bodied sound experience and we can’t wait to enjoy it with a couple thousand other people alongside us.
Check out “True Friends”.
