Boston Manor – Lead Feet (Track Of The Day, 13th April)

Our Track Of The Day today comes from UK punk rock five piece, Boston Manor, from their album Be Nothing (released 30th September 2016).

“Lead Feet” is the second track from Be Nothing. Its blend of crisp rock and heart wrenching vocals describe a story of having to continually fight for what is wanted.

Vocalist Henry Cox shared that “Lead Feet” was inspired by a phone call he received from a childhood school friend:

“One day, when we were about 13, he just didn’t show up to school. We got told he’d been taken into care and I never heard from him again until he called. He somehow got my parents’ phone number and rang me one day to tell me about the last ten years of his life, how people he’d loved had died, how he’d just got out of prison and struggled with addiction, lots of really troubling turbulent stuff. “Lead Feet” is about how two people’s lives can begin so similarly but the choices they make can take them in totally opposite directions.”

The song builds into the bridge, which expresses a touching affirmation that there really are ‘no words’ for how this person has struggled and never got what they were wanting without hard effort and fight.
