Today’s Track Of The Day is because of a beautiful video we saw, featuring the song.
Twenty One Pilots released an amazing video earlier today, courtesy of the brilliant Reel Bear Media, capturing moments of their touring. Quiet moments. Thoughtful moments. On stage moments. Clips of Josh and Tyler preparing for shows and being out in the wide world in ways we’ve never seen before gave us the somehow both mundane AND amazing moments we’ve never seen before.
We know of “We Don’t Believe What’s On TV” as the song from Blurryface album. It is the title of the video, and becomes the thread that ties the scenes together. The familiar drum intro, the audience participating (“YEAH YEAH YEAH!”), and the ukulele gently strummed while Josh is on an adventure and speaking about his grandchildren.
But what was so moving, to the point of tears as I sat on my train commute finally getting a chance to sneak a peek at this video, was Tyler singing “We Don’t Believe What’s On TV” in an empty stadium.
Death by heart-string tugging.
It was beautiful, all surrounding, and tender. Watch the video.
