The Story So Far – Take Me As You Please (New Music)

Impressed and mesmerised by the release of their Proper Dose album, it feels like a cherry on top of a delicious cake to receive a music video for “Take Me As You Please”; the fourth track of The Story So Far‘s fourth album. It’s even more of a treat when it’s visually as special as you would hope for it to be.

Directed by Eric Soucy, the music video draws an urban dwelling woman into another world of dreamy and hazy fantasy. In humble forest and field surroundings, she meets expressionless/identity-less characters who show kindness and offer unconditional connection. She passes this gift of love onward to another, forming further silent connection and a moment of presence.

“I feel the sunshine that burns away the cold.”

The experience of the fluid ease of this beautiful song coupled with the escapist surroundings and dream-like moments is perfect, taking us along for the ride with the Californian quintet. The video expresses the “It’s all good, it’s all love now it’s over” sentiment, pulling toward simple and easy and light, and less caught up in dark and damaged. This seems to reflect what “Take Me As You Please” shares lyrically, pulling one’s energy toward continuing, in as positive a way as can be mustered up.

Though the video’s character is only a visitor to this other world, it’s a pleasure to take time with this, as with the entirety of Proper Dose. I’m letting this heart-swelling track and its video fuel my Friday. Watch below, or stream Proper Dose at all your favourite places.
