Slowly Slowly’s Guide To Melbourne Music Week

Kicking off this Friday (16th November), Melbourne Music Week is our city’s celebration of music, comprising of 250 acts and 85 events. Who better to give us some hot tips for the week than Melbourne locals Slowly Slowly? The inimitable quartet that brought us St. Leonards have hand-picked the following five events:

  1. You Am I, Gareth Liddiard, Clowns and New War @ Melbourne Town Hall

“This is a huge line up of heavyweights. All the bands are going to fit together so well and yet be so diverse. Aussie rock at it’s finest and with the addition of the building’s giant house organ there is going to be some serious air pushing around the venue for You Am I’s set.”

  1. Mesa Cosa, Moody Beaches, The Quarters and HoT To RoT @ Max Watts

This will be killer. Mesa Cosa are true punk ratbags with a big sweaty energy force field that follows them everywhere they go.”

  1. Grand Salvo, Oliver Mann and Sarah Mary Chadwick @ Assembly Hall

“This show will showcase some beautiful songwriting. Sarah Mary Chadwick has a hauntingly beautiful voice so make sure you get down there early.”

  1. Push Over – The Push’s 30th Anniversary @ Fed Square

“The Push had a huge influence over all of us growing up heading to AA shows, wide eyed and filled with energy drinks. Happy 30th Bday Push! Thanks for all the memories.”

  1. Ainslie Wills, Gretta Ray, Angie McMahon @ ACMI

“Yeah this is a powerhouse show. We are big fanboys of Gretta Ray! Her Punt Session is mindblowing, so check that out if you haven’t.”

You can also find Slowly Slowly themselves in action during Melbourne Music Week! They’ll be playing a free show with Press Club at Cherry Bar on 21st Wed.

Melbourne Music Week runs from 16th-24th November. Find the full event program and details here: https://mmw.melbourne.vic.gov.au/
