Sleeptalk – Indio, California (New Music)

I had a cosy sleep-in this morning (still in “what day is it?” mode) so it was fitting that I ‘hung out’ with music by Sleeptalk.

Sleeptalk, or SLPTVLK, are a five piece indie alternative band from California, featuring members Anthony Fitzpatrick, Jason Fitzpatrick, Justin Melchor, Paul McGill, and Jacques Harmandjian.

“Indio, California” is cruisy, musically speaking, combining subtle electronic effects with light rock and vocals that sound at times seeking and pleading. The song has a sound reminiscent of Angels & Airwaves and describes a quest to follow pleasure, versus fight. I found the choruses particularly light and breezy.

SLPTVLK have shared that song is based off experiences at the Coachella Music Festival. Direct from the guys: “When you step onto those Polo fields you instantly gain this positive, beautiful energy, It feels like that is the only place in the world. ‘Indio, California’ is about those experiences… The type of experiences everyone longs for.”

Stream it below, or watch the music video and see what you think. (And if you love it, do your friends a favour and tell them about it.)
