Ocean Grove – These Boys Light Fires (Track Of The Day, 5th April)

“Right foot follows left
As I strive for progress
Take a breath
You need to find the pleasure in this”

Our Track Of The Day is one hell of a bangin track from Melbourne odd world musicians, Ocean Grove. “These Boys Light Fires” was the first single from The Rhapsody Tapes and it brought with it a huge sound perfect for playing live.

Frontman Luke Holmes described the theme of “These Boys Light Fires” as a journey:

“Written from the viewpoint of someone walking through a garden or labyrinth, “These Boys Light Fires” also draws parallels with our own journey in referencing our growth as people since the last record.”

The high energy and pushing sound expresses that journey theme, as well as the song moving fluidly through different sections, with wondering and inspiring vocals, including those of bassist Dale Tanner.

“Giving all they have to show
Bearing all of this alone”

“These Boys Light Fires” carries with it a massive amount of optimism which Luke also touched on when speaking about the song, describing it as a “celebration of life and an anthem for people embracing it.”

“Sat down beside me with our eyes pointed skywards
I find the best in me when I’m with you”

Let Ocean Grove and “These Boys Light Fires” inspire some optimism in you by watching their performance of it from Unify 2017, or stream below.
