I See Stars – Calm Snow (Track Of The Day, 30th April)

Our Track Of The Day comes from electronicore band I See Stars from their epic Treehouse album. “Calm Snow” is the first track of the album, setting the tone for a collection of twelve impressive tracks ahead.

“Don’t you tell me all them lies
We both know
Don’t you tell me how time flies
It’s so slow”

When speaking with Billboard about “Calm Snow” and its cinematic music video, I See Stars frontman Devin Oliver shared that “the story takes place in the mind’s subconscious; a place where your desires and fears crash at high speeds. Where your perceptions of reality are the very plane you walk on. In dreams, fate is an illusion. Destiny is what happens when you awake.”

“We’re watching things unravel slowly
You’re just trying to get away from yourself
It’s obvious you’re speaking in languages I can’t read
You just hide and confide in someone else”

The video’s use of effects captures the non-reality of what’s being shown, exploring themes of connection, vulnerability, mortality and loss. The dark creatures of the video seem to represent fears that are waiting in the wings, attacking, taking over and trying to control. It’s done beautifully, directed by Jensen Noen, produced by Scissor Films.

Enjoy “Calm Snow” as our Track Of The Day today.
