West Floridans DBMK refer to themselves as an ‘eccentric alternative outfit’. If by ‘eccentric’ they mean unique music with honesty, heart, and passion, then I agree.
“Twin Machines” is the final track on DBMK’s Collapse album.
To me, this song as a metaphor sits suspended, like a holding of breath, before falling into circular thoughts and self-analysis.
Musically it has moments of simplicity (tapping of drumsticks and vocals only). Long chords along with gentle guitar have the song feel wide open and still. The building of bass, electronics, drums and vocals after the second verse progressively unravel the stillness and move the song into a growing frustration, all the way to a final outburst.
There’s something about this song that has me hooked. I understand that I’m not alone in this.
Not alone at all.
