As It Is – Patchwork Love (New Music)

British pop punk band As It Is have their album okay. due for release on 20th January on Fearless Records. In the meantime they have released a track for our listening pleasure, “Patchwork Love”.

“Patchwork Love” is a punchy track, with guitar setting a stage for a relationship’s confrontation:

“You have a stubborn heart I can’t persuade
I’ll say three words you won’t reciprocate
I know you want to
I know you used to
But you just don’t love me”

The light and sunny sound feels at odds with the subject matter (“It has to hurt before it starts to heal”), but may in itself be a balm of a difficult experience, as well as trying to let someone go when it’s clear that they need to, despite how hard it is.

Light piano leads into the bridge, which feels like a final farewell including a climactic last chorus. The final twenty seconds of piano feel like goodbye, but according to the band leads into the next tune…?

We can’t help but think that As It Is are loving all the hype that’s coming with their gradual release! Have a listen to “Patchwork Love” and see what you think. Share with us on Facebook or Twitter.
