We fell in love with this track when we reviewed As It Is album okay.
It can be a risk to speak honestly about how you feel, and to us, “No Way Out” shines because of that. The entire album of okay. has references to it ‘being okay to not feel okay’, and each track spoke about different situations and tough emotions involved with them.
“No Way Out” stands out to us because it carries this theme and takes pushes it hard. There’s an emotional rawness with vocals that have a growl to them, and a vent of emotion in a spoken and shouted section at the bridge.
From our review:
The guitar loops foreshadow a shift into something intensely amazing, musically, lyrically and all of the above. Cue the bass, and a spoken word which is a roar from someone who spent far too long NOT roaring.
“As I let hindsight translate nightmares into reality
I begin to see who I truly was
Somebody desperate
Somebody entirely out of their depth
Somebody beyond their abilities to cope”
A-ma-zing.”
